Off Beat Hi-Hat Rhythms

Welcome to the newest lesson which learning to play off beat hi-hat rhythms with both open and closed hi hats. These kinds of patterns were incredibly popular in the 60's when Disco music was all the rage. Many drummers refer to these kinds of rhythms as the "T-Shirt pattern" due to the characteristic noise that the hi hats make when opening and closing.

There are LOADS of variations on this kind of rhythm and we'll be doing an advanced lesson in a month or so to help you along the way with learning this style of playing.

!!WARNING!! - DO NOT listen to the audio track at full volume, it could seriously damage your hearing. You should always ensure you have adequate hearing protection when using audio tracks as some can be louder than others. Check out our article on ear plugs for drummers to get some ideas.
